The plan you started on carries on and the first charge falls on day 8. Cancel or drop to the free tier before then, from Plan & Billing, and you are charged nothing. No lock-in either way — and Settings → Export Data gives you a full JSON backup of your clients, tasks, documents, and activity whenever you want it.
Yes. Switch the Monthly/Annual toggle in Plan & Billing and every paid plan drops about 20%: Solo is $276 a year instead of $348, Small Firm $756 instead of $948, and Agency $1,428 instead of $1,788. The 7-day free trial works the same either way, and you can switch between monthly and annual later.
When clients pay invoices via Stripe through FinishTax, we charge a platform fee on the transaction — 5% on Solo and Small Firm, never more than $10 per payment; 2.5% on Agency, never more than $5 — on top of Stripe's standard fees. So a $700 return costs $10, not $35. If you collect payments outside FinishTax, there's no fee.
