The FinishTax dashboard — needs-attention list, firm pulse counters, and upcoming appointments
    Step 1 of 8

    Friday morning, in one screen.

You open the app and it tells you what is actually waiting rather than making you go find it: three clients needing attention, three returns in review, six e-signatures out, and the next deadline 53 days away.

    • Needs attention gives the reason, not just a flag — one invoice 8 days late, Maria Rivera waiting 4 days on a signature.
    • Firm pulse: 52 active clients, 9 open tasks, 6 awaiting signature.
The FinishTax clients table — 52 clients with status, waiting-on, and last-touch columns
    Step 2 of 8

One roster the whole firm shares.

Every client sits in one table with a status, what you are waiting on, and when you last touched them. Your whole firm sees the same list, so adding a seasonal preparer costs you nothing extra.

    • Waiting on spells out what each client still owes you — documents, signatures, or nothing.
    • Switch the same data between Table and Pipeline views.
The FinishTax client intake portal rendered in Spanish, offering a quick send or a full intake
    Step 3 of 8

Your client starts here — in English or Spanish.

Clients choose how much work they want to do up front: drop the documents and go, or answer the full questionnaire. The whole intake is genuinely bilingual — one toggle, not a machine-translated afterthought.

    • Envío rápido (~2 minutes) versus Admisión completa (5–10 minutes) — the client picks.
    • The EN / ES switch sits in the header of every intake screen.
Maria Rivera’s client profile — open tasks, 20 of 20 documents received, files, and the document checklist
    Step 4 of 8

Everything about one client, on one screen.

Open a client and the whole relationship is in front of you: open tasks with due dates, the document checklist, every file they have sent, and the buttons to message them or request a signature.

    • 20 / 20 documents received, with the checklist confirming every one arrived.
    • In Documents, one click runs AI classification on a file — it names the form, pulls the key figures, and writes a plain-English summary.
The FinishTax form builder detecting 48 native fields on a Form W-4 and placing them for a recipient
    Step 5 of 8

Send any fillable form — the fields place themselves.

Drop in a fillable PDF and FinishTax reads its native form fields and places every one of them against the right recipient. No dragging 48 boxes onto a W-4 by hand.

    • This PDF is already fillable — 48 native fields found, then placed for Sam Winters.
    • Run Detect again and it refreshes the placements without duplicating them.
A FinishTax signing session pausing for government-ID and selfie identity verification
    Step 6 of 8

Signing, with the identity check you choose.

Identity proofing is a step-up ladder you set per envelope — an emailed one-time code, an internal security-questions check, or a government ID plus selfie at NIST IAL2, the rung IRS guidance accepts for remote Form 8879 signing.

    • You pick the rung envelope by envelope — it is not all-or-nothing.
    • ID images are handled by Persona and are not stored by the tax firm.
The client’s file list showing the finished 1040 locked behind Pay invoice to download
    Step 7 of 8

Get paid before the return leaves.

Attach the finished return to an invoice and it stays locked until the client pays. Their source documents stay freely downloadable, so the paywall only ever sits on your work.

    • 2025 Form 1040 — final return.pdf shows Pay invoice to download.
    • The W-2, 1098 and 1099-INT they uploaded stay downloadable throughout.
A FinishTax client portal branded to the firm, showing outstanding tasks and an invoice to pay
    Step 8 of 8

And this is what your client sees all season.

One branded page under your firm’s name where clients see what is outstanding, pay an invoice, message you, and pick up finished documents — in any browser, with nothing to install.

    • Needs Attention tells them exactly what is left: 0 of 2 tasks complete, 20 / 20 documents received.
    • INV-0008 for $450.00 is payable in one tap.

That's the whole loop — intake to paid.

Every screen above is the app you get on day one. The free plan covers three clients with no time limit and no card.
